We provide this as a public service to assist in the location of appropriate legal advice and/or representation. Once an attorney is chosen for your situation, please record the information and contact the attorney in a timely manner to make an appointment for your consultation. The attorney will be notified of the referral, but will not contact you directly.
The attorney's office may screen you over the phone and refer you back to the service for a different referral if they cannot help you for any reason.
Please note that the online service will give you up to 3 attorneys at once, who practice the type of law you request. This is the limitation on referrals per day through the service. We ask that you contact the attorney(s) referred and allow 24 hours for the attorney to return your call to make a consultation appointment. Phone consultations may be requested, but are at the discretion of the attorney.
If you do not find an area or attorney that fits your needs, or have questions about the type of lawyer your situation requires, you may contact the DuPage County Lawyer Referral Service for assistance during regular office hours. The number is (630) 653-9109. The phone referral service is available Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–4:30 pm, Central Time, excluding holidays. To assist you in the process, you may wish to review a list of law categories in which referrals are made.

In the military?
Prairie State Legal Services has developed a program through which military personnel from Illinois may receive legal services for problems encountered as a result of the call to active duty. Some typical problems could be eviction, and drafting of legal documents such as powers of attorney or simple wills.
Assistance may be needed with preparation of responses required if served with court papers and the need to notify the court of their active duty circumstances. Respondents do not necessarily have to be indigent. Call 1/800-892-2985.
Outside of DuPage?
Outside of DuPage County, Illinois there are additional bar associations in the Chicgo Metropolitan area that also provide Referral Services. The Illinois State Bar also provides this service at the state level, particularly for areas of the state that do not have a local bar association.
